oh, just some casual business attire hahahahahahaa.

quick early nibble at The Dutch.

liberté, equalité …

top: Geld Iaz, 2006 | leggings: Forever 21, 2008 | shoes: Yves St Laurent, 2008 | shirt (men’s): Coast, Weber, & Ahaus, 2010 | jeans (men’s): Balmain, 2011 | boots (men’s): Balmain, 2011

although i really looove these men’s Balmain jeans and think it’s great that sweetie got them, here’s a little secret about shopping in Miami Beach: they don’t believe in sales. i’d asked a salesperson in a store about a Moncler coat (yes, in Miami) at the end of last winter, and was surprised when she’d told me it wasn’t on sale at all. she’d explained to me that in Miami Beach, they "get a lot of tourists"— and apparently, tourists are too stupid to realize that we have seasons in America (?) and that surplus retail items often get discounted at the end of those seasons. and so supposedly this is why in Miami Beach surplus retail items hardly ever get discounted, despite the item perhaps being, shall we say, démodé.

anyway, there’s this very nice store on Collins Ave called The Webster, they have some really beautiful things. and it’s true, nothing ever goes on sale there. on our previous visit i’d seen a great pair of Azzedine Alaïa shoes that seriously tempted me and had been quite relieved to hear they’d only had one pair left in a size that was way too big for me. well wouldn’t you know on this most recent visit, they still had that very same pair of size 41 Alaïa’s, and still they had not been discounted to expedite their unloading. weird, right?

in any case, my point is i’m glad these Balmain’s are so remarkable and unique, the likeliness of them sitting in a bargain bin somewhere else is really rather nil. but i’m still afraid to google and see if they could have been had elsewhere for less, cuz that might drive me a little bit crazy.

dinner at Hotel Griffou.

buck up, buttercup.

jacket: Yohji Yamamoto (men’s), 2008 | tights: Donna Karan, 2010 | boots: Michael Kors, 2009

i mean, rilly? strappy sandals one day, shearling boots the next? look— even the poor blossoms are confused. WILL NO ONE THINK OF THE BLOSSOMS?!

also: how come my wardrobe dwarfs sweetie’s by about 650% and yet i can’t stop stealing his clothes. it’s kinda ridiculous.

fire

hoodie: Michael Kors (men’s), 2007 | leggings: Forever 21, 2008 | shoes: Dior, 2004

do you remember Dior’s "Dietrich" shoes? this was the first year i accompanied Marc Bagutta to Paris/Milan Fashion Week, i assisted with the buying for BaguttaLife by taking all the notes and whatnot. and occasionally Marc Bagutta would ask my opinion on things, seeing as i am such an extraordinarily stylish woman with exceptional taste and all. one of the things i fell in love with immediately were these shoes, i talked him into buying them (even though he’ll deny it if you ask him because he likes to claim credit for himself). well when we returned to NYC, his senior salesperson and store manager hated the photos of them, she derided him for being so stupid for choosing these pieces and declared her clients would despise them. wouldn’t you know they turned out to be the big major campaign for Dior ’04, everybody in the world was clamoring for these shoes and they sold out nearly everywheres.

hah. i’m just sayin.

brunch this day at Miss Lily’s. (ha ha ahaa yea, we all made jokes about how Anna Wintour called the Fire Department, it’s true.)

long live McQueen

car coat: Rick Owens Lilies, 2007 | t-shirt: RLX Ralph Lauren, 2010 | jeans: Dior (men’s – altered), 2007 | boots: Alexander McQueen, 2007 | eyewear: Yves St Laurent, 2010

these denim shorts are a hand-me-down from sweetie, they used to be full-length but i cut them and took in the crotch after he’d worn them down until they had holes in the ass.

dinner party at La Esquina. drinks at Mr H.

pedestrian

jacket: Yohji Yamamoto (men’s), 2008 | hoodie: Codes Combine, 2007 | leggings: Forever 21, 2009 | shoes: DKNY, 2007 | bag: Yves St Laurent, 2008 | socks: Adidas, 2010

mhmm i feel the ole "uniform" creeping back in. whenever i’m feeling lazy, i steal sweetie’s clothes. i love this jacket so much though, i totally forced him to buy it, he was apprehensive at first. but i think it’s really great, it’s a ribbed knit blazer.

urchin chic

jacket: Junya Watanabe, 2005 | teeshirt: American Apparel, 2009 | leggings: Forever 21, 2008 | boots: Burberry Prorsum, 2010 | eyewear: Gucci, 2005 | bag: Yves St Laurent, 2008 | hat: All Saints, 2010

yea this is my irritated wtf-yesterday-was-74-degrees-and-today-it’s-41-fucking-degrees look. i stole this jacket from sweetie, but it’s okay because i still let him wear it every once in awhile. the parka and blazer are actually attached as one piece. it’s even reversible– if you turn it inside out, instead of an orange parka under a black blazer, it looks like a black blazer under a green parka. it’s pretty funky.
