pink and the flesh mesh dress mess

since we were in the area, we decided to take a walk over and check out the new Frank Gehry building near the Brooklyn Bridge. it’s pretty rad.

then we had an early dinner at Cercle Rouge and ended up right next to Pink. i didn’t notice her at first, she said to me "i really like your, whatever that is. dress?" and i replied "oh thank you." then she added "it’s beautiful, i love it," and i almost replied, "has anybody ever told you you look just like Pink?" ha ha ahaa, i am not even kidding.

see, i didn’t realize she’d recently had a baby, and so i wasn’t at all expecting Pink to be a bit healthier than usual and cradling an adorable blue-eyed little infant, much less engaging me in conversation at Cercle Rouge. and it’s true, we had a full-on discourse going at one point, so then when i finally realized it was indeed Pink after all, i felt funny bringing up how much sweetie loves her song, because it really seemed like she and her husband were rather enjoying their anonymity, having a nice quiet uneventful meal with their gorgeous little tot.

huh, there was a time i likely would have accosted her and offered to gladly make her a flesh mesh dress mess of her own to keep, but i just feel so busy and tired these days i can’t even. oh well, i overheard them discussing how they "just moved back" into town, so maybe i’ll run into her again someday. or ya know, when she decides to return to the rock star limelight, she’ll probably just tell her stylist to go out and have a flesh mesh dress made somewhere else, that’s usually how it works. so look for one on a future Pink album cover, coming soon.

late lunch at Centro Vinoteca. had a little too much wine with my meal so maybe it wasn’t such a great idea to try and change for the V magazine party at Boom Boom cuz then we got too comfortable and decided to just stay home. so it’s official, i am really getting old.

"Designer, writer and insider Abbe Diaz, recounted her experiences in the fashion world in her book PX This – Diary of the Maitre d’ to the Stars… [and] shared this run-in with designer Ann Demeulmeester:
‘[She] was a bit creepy to me for absolutely no reason at all, we go to her showroom and Marc [Bagutta] introduces me to her as his girlfriend and then he mentions how I am helping him with the buying (taking all the notes and shit). And she suddenly busts out with ‘Yes, you have to put them to work, otherwise they just spend all your money.’" – from "Is the Fashion Industry a Gay Man’s World?" at thegrindstone.com

ha ha ahaa Happy Fashion Week! :)

oh i did one other fashiony thing too, i went for drinks at the Boom Boom and then followed it up with a pop-in at the JF & Son party (but really only because it was so close by).

meeting at Centro Vinoteca.

anyway, personally i chose to celebrate the beginning of Fashion Week by staying home and sorta just being quietly reminiscent about other stuff. but other peoples way more fabulous than me naturally did things far more fabulous than i. ohh like Nadine Johnson for example. apparently she was here seeing this, which does seem like a lot of fun. so maybe you might enjoy that instead.

Happy Fashion Week.

Standard Grill again cuz we happened to be right in the area. there’s an older guy on an antique bicycle who stakes the joint out for susceptible-looking ladies and then tries to pick them up with some line about "making a movie in the area." he must make his rounds to a few different places, cuz we watched him come and go three separate times in the span of about three hours. one of his other ploys is to roll up and cop a squat very nearby and then pretend to use his cell phone within earshot of his prey. we were too far away to hear him that time, but judging by the way his victim rolled her eyes up into her forehead (and then gathered up her purse and walked away), we imagined his phone "conversation" probably consisted of something along the lines of "well if Brad isn’t available for ten million then call George Clooney, he owes me a favor!" ha ha ha ha aha.
