rreoowwrr…? ugh.

as usual i was in denial about Winter when i dressed for this party at Mr Chow, i chose this piece particularly because ehee heee i knew a client of mine would be there and i was sure she would want to buy this dress on the spot (practically right off my back). then i got outside and Winter smacked me across the face. it was freezing so i went back upstairs to change but then i was so irritated, Winter had zapped all the energy out of me and one of the main reasons i’d wanted to go to this party in the first place was specifically to sell this dress. so then i felt like i didn’t want to go to the party anymore. so then that was that.

dress: Geld Iaz, 2003 | jacket: Roberto Cavalli, 2005 | shoes: Dior, 2005 | bag: Fendi, 2007 | wrap: Loro Piana, 2006

this dress is actually this evening gown, dumbed down temporarily by removing all the beaded straps and whatnot and just replacing them with plain laces. oh it’s also the dress i’d described earlier, the very one where this woman at this wedding in the Hamptons wanted to go into the bathroom with me to try it on, remember? hee eheee yah i really don’t know what clients are thinking sometimes.

this jacket also has one butterfly stitched at the bottom of the left sleeve (only), i think it’s a very nice touch.

the box

dress: Geld Iaz, 2011

Yohji Yamamoto once said, "the fabric knows what it wants to be." and personally i find he’s totally right– when you force a cut on a fabric it wasn’t meant to sustain, this is how you end up with bad designs and so much awful fashion. anyways, i recently found a nice sorta geometric-patterned fabric which wants really badly to be nothing but a box. since it was a completely new contour for me, i decided to try it on a simple neutral first— and this is the end result. so now that i’ve mastered this great structure, i had to go digging through everything trying to find all the poor forsaken cloth that also wants to be a box too someday.

yeh, Nouvelle Vagues’s "Manner of Speaking" happened to be playing in the background right at that moment, so this is my four-second rendition of controversial Oscar nominee Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. or something.
