mhmm i feel the ole "uniform" creeping back in. whenever i’m feeling lazy, i steal sweetie’s clothes. i love this jacket so much though, i totally forced him to buy it, he was apprehensive at first. but i think it’s really great, it’s a ribbed knit blazer.

sleep no more

yeah so— last night i went to see Sleep No More (which came highly recommended by a very discerning friend).
part gallery, part museum, part performance art, part cabaret, part nightmare, part Stanley Kubrick production, part snuff film, and part theatre of the macabre— Sleep No More was, in a word: fascinating. i really loved it.

afterward was wine and pizza at Ovest, which was great.

but this is the only photo i have to show for any of it— because i lost my camera somewhere between Ovest and the cab ride home. booo. so in essence, after i’d vowed never to buy a Sony product ever again, i now must buy another one. cuz i really liked that great affordable versatile cute little compact Sony Cyber-Shot i’d previously tried to resist [people have been asking what type of camera i use. there you go].

sigh.

rreoowwrr…? ugh.

dress: Geld Iaz, 2010 | coat: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, 2009 | eyewear: Yves St Laurent, 2010

as usual i was in denial about Winter when i dressed for this party at Mr Chow, i chose this piece particularly because ehee heee i knew a client of mine would be there and i was sure she would want to buy this dress on the spot (practically right off my back). then i got outside and Winter smacked me across the face. it was freezing so i went back upstairs to change but then i was so irritated, Winter had zapped all the energy out of me and one of the main reasons i’d wanted to go to this party in the first place was specifically to sell this dress. so then i felt like i didn’t want to go to the party anymore. so then that was that.

yellow fever

car coat: Geld Iaz, 2011 | skirt: Geld Iaz, 1998 | wrap: Loro Piana, 2006

this sweater/jacket is pretty easy to make, it’s basically a big square with two short tubes attached for sleeves. Geld Iaz gave up seasonal design long ago (it’s only swim/resort and evening now), but since this awful interminable inclemency seems determined to stick around, i finally gave in and made myself something appropriate for the nippy temperatures. generally i never do— i usually refuse to construct anything that acknowledges the existence of Winter, its mere presence in the world is horrid enough.

dinner at Asellina with Nick Rytting because his family is in town (with any luck, we may work with each other on something soon). normally the Gansevoort hotels are not my stilo at all, i like Asellina mostly because all the homies from La Esquina and Da Silvano are there. but i must admit the food is actually quite good.

butterfly

dress: Geld Iaz, 2003 | jacket: Roberto Cavalli, 2005 | shoes: Dior, 2005 | bag: Fendi, 2007 | wrap: Loro Piana, 2006

this dress is actually this evening gown, dumbed down temporarily by removing all the beaded straps and whatnot and just replacing them with plain laces. oh it’s also the dress i’d described earlier, the very one where this woman at this wedding in the Hamptons wanted to go into the bathroom with me to try it on, remember? hee eheee yah i really don’t know what clients are thinking sometimes.

this jacket also has one butterfly stitched at the bottom of the left sleeve (only), i think it’s a very nice touch.

dinner at Miss Lily’s.
