bienvenidos…

i love Miami. true, i grew to hate it when i lived here in the winter of 1992, but what can i say. it’s a great place to visit…

although currently my new favorite hotels are The W and The Setai, they were both entirely booked up due to the big annual boat show. so back to The Raleigh it was— ah, the memories. the poor Raleigh isn’t quite the same now as back in the golden olden Andre Balazs days, but it’s still a special little gem.

late breakfast by the pool; met friends for dinner at Prime 112 (even though i kinda can’t stand that place).

fashion week – f/w 2011

jacket: ? (Seoul), 2007 | skirt: Geld Iaz, 1999 | boots: Sportmax, 2010 | eyewear: street vendor, 2006 | bag: Fendi, 2007

happened across these old pair of shades i bought years ago from a street vendor (for $6) just because i liked the tint of the lenses and frame (even though i already owned a good dozen pair of designer sunglasses). i’d brought them home and played with them, adding some spare rhinestones i had, to jazz them up a wee bit. so aha haa i decided to sport them for Fashion Week, as something of a fashion-lover/hater’s anti-Fashion statement. they’re kinda neat actually, they make everything glow this great golden hue, so it seems like the sun is shining even when it’s not. which is not a bad way to cheer yourself up, like light-therapy or something.

the thing about Fashion Week is you’re often obliged to go places and be fashionable even when you aren’t in the mood. and there’s lots of walking, because so much is crammed into one day and of course the taxicabs are scarce. don’t let the amateur fashionistas fool you—- during Fashion Week it’s really the comfy flat shoes that are your best friend.

i’m only showing a few photos from the shows, because you can see pictures like this everywhere (even in ads and whatnot). whenever other style bloggers i like post runway shots, i get irritated and bored— it’s always the bloggers’ own personal styles i find most intriguing. to me, these people make Anna Wintour— like, totally obsolete.

a perfect brutally freezing day to sit by the fireplace and enjoy hot brandy-spiked apple cider at The Bowery Hotel. two very good clients happened to be there too. a woman across the way spent the entire time complaining about her boss at LVMH. happy Fashion Week.

dress (as skirt): Geld Iaz, 2004 | teeshirt: American Apparel, 2010 | coat: Gianni Versace, 1989 | shoes: Y3 Yohji Yamamoto for Adidas, 2010 | bag: Luba J, 2005 | eyewear: Fiction, 2010

i only wore this coat hoping Spring will come soon and i won’t have much more of an occasion to wear it for at least another ten months.

drinks at Living Room in the Standard Hotel with accessories designer Julija Stoliarova of Luba J, it was so much fun. remember when she was a 40-foot high billboard on Houston Street for Kangol by Luba J? she’s so beautiful. dinner at Villa Pacri.

so jones (redux)

was feeling under the weather yesterday, so just stayed in. only ventured out to the drugstore, but i certainly wouldn’t want to bore you with the get-up i rocked at Duane Reade. dug out these old photos instead, the ones which were featured in that SoJones article, in case you missed it or want a closer look or something. i replaced the beach chair one (with the rejects) cuz that one’s totally played-out anyways, i chose it for my Facebook® profile back when Gawker still allowed commentator log-in via farcebook (because they banned my longtime commentator "handle," remember?)— it was the only one i had that i thought most capably implied "oh go fuck yourself." believe me, as a Gawker "commenter" it’s best to be as preemptive as possible (because most of their "regular" commenters are assholes). it’s still my Farcebook profile picture but only because i’m too lazy to mess with that stuff.

sigh, seeing these pictures makes me think it’s time to escape this interminable antarctic tundra. oh yah, it’s Fashion Week. another great reason to get the hells out of Dodge. ahaa hah haa oh what a Fashion lover i am.

love is… ?

Lelaine Lau is wearing this great dress from Roberto Cavalli and Edwige Belmore had the coolest rubber blazer…

last night was this great event called "Love Is…" by Lelaine Lau’s Salon 403. Camille Becerra of Paloma restaurant (and Top Chef) catered, and it was held in this beauuutiful loft apartment in the Meatpacking District. it was a lot of fun.

(for more information about the event and the full list of speakers, please see today’s entry at PX This.)
